I’ve been thinking about this quote ever since I read it.

What’s also been rolling around in my mind is the ongoing conversation in internal communicator circles about wanting to have a seat at the table. And I’m wondering what self-perceptions we are putting on ourselves. And what perceptions of our organizations are we adopting as self-perceptions?
Mike Klein wrote an article on LinkedIn called “Why worry about a ‘seat at the table’ when you have a hand on the wheel.” It’s a great post about challenging our perspective as communicators.
As a new business owner, it shows up for me as self-doubt or comparison. A friend told me about the 3Cs, a very helpful way to disrupt and transform your mindset.
Catch. Catch yourself in the moment of a negative thought.
Cancel. Stop the thought, recognizing that it is not accurate or useful.
Correct. Change the thought to a more accurate or helpful one.
So, I challenge you to consider what opportunities you are closing off due to your self-perceptions and how you are going to step out of your comfort zone to change them.
Then, catch, cancel, and correct any negative self-talk. The stories we tell ourselves allow us to stay in our comfort zone. You’ve been gifted something unique that only you can bring forward.
