People not paperclips

Are your social feeds filled with reels about people hating their jobs? While these may seem funny or relatable, they’re actually a cultural sentiment indicator that companies should pay attention to.

In my video, I shared 3 ways you can create a different employee experience:

  1. Be authentic and transparent: Employees crave honesty. According to Deloitte, workers in high-trust companies are 50% less likely to leave, 180% more likely to be motivated, 140% more likely to take on extra responsibilities, and are generally more productive, satisfied, and healthier.

  2. Put yourself in their shoes: Understanding the employee's “why” improves engagement. Employees who feel seen and heard are more likely to embrace change.

  3. Maximize your intranet: make information searchable and accessible.

Here are 3 more:

  1. Change the narrative: Create an employee showcase series. Instead of just highlighting high-level achievements, focus on the day-to-day challenges employees have overcome, the impact they’ve made, and their personal growth.

  2. Get real-time feedback: Use tools like polls, open-house Q&A sessions, or voting to regularly gather and respond to employee feedback.

  3. Showcase change: Dedicate a segment of your regular communication to showcase “you spoke, we listened” stories that highlight how employee feedback has led to tangible changes.

When you leverage internal communications as a strategic tool, you can uncover underlying sentiments that can be quickly addressed and changed to boost engagement, trust, and connection.
